Lenten Devotional 2016

During the Lent Season this year, I will be following the Scripture reading plan from the Christian Resource Institute. The website also gives a great introduction to the Season of Lent and some ideas of how to participate as followers of Christ during this time of the Church Year. Dennis Bratcher says: It really is a preparation to celebrate God's marvelous redemption at Easter, and the resurrected life that we live, and hope for, as Christians.

Through the reading of the Word each day during Lent, I am hemmed in by three preparations:

• desiring to humbly submit to the authority and transforming power of the Word,
• allowing the Word to guide my time of confession,
• and looking to the power of God's Spirit to transform my life evermore into the image of His Son Jesus Christ.

May we humbly come to the Word, practicing the discipline of confession, and asking the Lord by His resurrection power to do a deeper work in us for His glory. Amen!
